Calexico PD Responds To K-9 Attack

CALEXICO — On Sunday, July 3, at around 6:46 A.M., Calexico Police Officer Victor Flores responded to the intersection of Grant Street and Eady Avenue in reference to a dog bite report.

Officer Flores had arrived on scene and proceeded to talk to the victim of the dog bite, in a residence across from Lincoln Street where the K-9 was located. Seconds later, the medium size pit-bull, charged at the officer, in which he had no choice but to un-holster his duty weapon (gun) and shot at the k-9 once.  The K-9 fell to the ground, got up and left the scene returning moments later to the Lincoln residence.

Animal Control was dispatched to the scene, took possession of the dying K-9 and transported it to the on-call veterinarian where is was euthanized.
