CALEXICO – During a special meeting Wednesday evening, city council board members voted unanimously, 4-0, to appoint city Public Works manager Nick Fenley as acting city manager subsequent to placing city manager Richard Warne on administrative leave the night before.
Tuesday night at a special meeting, city council voted 3-2 to place Warne on a 30-day administrative leave with no reasons given. Waren may appeal during the 30-day period before the decision becomes effective and he is officially terminated.
The council could not continue on with city business without a sitting city manager, so the regular meeting was delayed for one day.
Fenley has served the city for numerous years in different positions with the most current Public Works manager.
