Burrowing Owls & Agriculture Course Includes 5 Continuing Education Credits



EL CENTRO – The Farm Bureau will be hosting a class, free of charge, for anyone who is interested in burrowing owls, how they relate to agriculture in Imperial Valley including laws and regulations for all Migratory Birds.

The five-hour course includes three hours of class time and two hours in the field learning how to install a burrowing owl nesting box.  A total of five continuing education credits will be given for those who complete the course.  This will consist of 1-1/2 hours of law and 3-1/2 hours of other, which includes 1/2 hour of aerial credits for you ag pilots.  These continuing education credits will be applicable for PCAs, ag pilots, holders of QAL and QAC licenses, and farmers with Private Applicator Certificates.

The three-hour classroom portion of the training begins July 28, 2014 at the Farm Bureau Board Room: 1000 Broadway, El Centro, CA and will run from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm.

The two-hour field portion of the training will be held the following morning, July 29, 2014, from 7:00 am to 9:00 am at the Meloland Field Station: 1004 E. Holton Rd., Holtville, CA, where attendees will participate in installing a burrowing owl nesting box.

The class is paid for by the Imperial Valley Community Foundation Burrowing Owl Stewardship and Education Fund.
