COACHELLA, CA – A semi-truck carrying hay engulfed in flames prompted a full closure of westbound Interstate 10 in Coachella for several hours Thursday afternoon, backing up traffic for more than 15 miles.
The truck fire was reported at 2:01 p.m. on the westbound 10 at Dillon Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP closed both westbound freeway lanes and at 2:52 p.m., issued a SigAlert. The CHP reported traffic backed up as far as the Cactus City rest area.
