BRAWLEY – The Brawley Union High School Boys and Girls Swim team were in action this past Wednesday and Thursday in two duel swim meets taking on both Central and Southwest teams at the Brawley Lions Center.
In the end, the Brawley girls swept through the competition, posting score totals of 105.5 to 65.5 over Central, and 118-52 over Southwest.
Jordan Hamilton posted wins in the 50 meter freestyle, as well as the 100 meter backstroke, over Southwest and winning the 200 freestyle was and the 100 backstroke over Central.
Alongside Jordan, Karlee Kline, Hannah Casey, Evelyn Puga and several others posted big contributions in leading the Wildcat girls to a 10-0 record on the season, winning Imperial Valley League in the process.
The Boys side went 1-1 on the week with a 102-68 win over Central, but a 64-108 defeat at the hands of Southwest.
With the win, Southwest takes the Imperial Valley Championship crown of 2014.
The Brawley squad put up a valiant effort led by swimmers Jake Howard, Canon Walker, and Connor Trimm. The ‘Cats look towards next week’s IVL to continue their individual runs toward the swimming post-season.
“We really enjoy our competition against Southwest, the athletes all seem to swim their best when competing against them. We would like to congratulate their boy’s team for winning IV League today, too,” said Brawley Head Coach D’Ann Luckey after the Southwest meet.
The stage is now set for the IVL individual Championships set for next Thursday at the Brawley Lions Center.
All the valley teams will have their top swimmers on display in what is sure to be an exciting night of swimming.
