BRAWLEY – The Brawley Police has issued an arrest warrant for Braulio Salazar who is now a suspect in the murder of Matthew Tate.
Brawley Police say they found a gun that may have been used to shoot 27 year old Matthew Tate of Brawley.
Tate left behind his family and a son that’s two years old.
“He was a good loving son. He was a hard worker. He had a beautiful smile. He was a good brother, a good uncle, a good grandson, and full of life. He was a good person. All around he didn’t deserve to die the way he did,” Matthew’s father Christopher Tate said.
His life was taken on July 23 when shot in the area of 600 D Street in Brawley.
Police are searching for the suspect Braulio Salazar.
Police say Salazar and Tate knew each other.
“I believe there was a confrontation with him and the suspect and all I know is Matt got shot,” the father said.
Police say Salazar has a significant criminal history.
The police are asking the public to come forward with any relevant information about the case they may have or the whereabouts of Salazar.
“I want the individual brought to justice. It has been hard. It has changed our lives all around. It has been hard,” Tate said.
Tate had studied fiber optics and and was continuing to learn the trade before he died.
“I want the community to come together and try to find this individual to get him off the streets. If he had any manhood to him or just being a decent person he’d turn himself in,” Tate said.
