BRAWLEY – On March 7, 2014, at around 7:35 am, the Brawley Police Communication Center received the call that a vehicle was being stolen from a residence located on the 500 block of K Street.
Officers responded to the area in search of a 90’s model Honda sedan. Brawley police officers located the stolen vehicle driving in the area of SR 111 and Malan Street.
Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the stolen vehicle, but the sole occupant and driver failed to stop.
The vehicle pursuit continued westbound and came to an end when the stolen vehicle collided with a utility pole at the corner of Cesar Chavez and H Street.
The suspect, later identified as 31 year old Brawley transient Laura Valenzuela, was taken into custody after attempting to flee on foot from the scene.
The California Highway Patrol and the Brawley Fire Department were on scene during the incident to assist.
