Brawley Little League Juniors All Stars uses big fifth inning to beat Spring Valley, 9-0


brawley junior leagueBRAWLEY – On Saturday afternoon, the Brawley Junior League All Stars played an exciting game of baseball against the Spring Valley Junior League All Star team.

The inning began with a couple of walks, but started to heat up when George Mickle singled to left field, which brought Isaac Rios home.

Casey Kline stole home on a fielding error giving Brawley the lead 2-0.  Dylan Reina stole home giving the advantage to Brawley 3-0.

In the bottom of the Fourth inning George Mickle hit a ground ball, which allowed Dylan Reina to score finishing the inning 4-0.  Robert Brodell’s strategic pitching and Brawley’s great defensive fielding shut Spring Valley down allowing no runs.

It was during the bottom of the Fifth that the Brawley boys secured their win when some great batting and offensive plays were made and capitalized upon which further increased the score 9-0.

Superb batting and fielding skills contributed to the domination of Spring Valley and secured the win 9-0.  Highlights included George Mickle’s batting which went 3 for 3 with 2 RBI’s and Jacob Sapp’s excellent catching skills where he threw out 3 of 3 runners stealing from first to second base.

Manager Ralph Lopez was heard yelling words of encouragement to Sapp saying “they can steal your heart, but not your base”.  Lopez and his coaches, Agustine Torres and Austin Gastelum, were beaming with pride at the end of the game.  “Today the boys played good” Lopez said, “they’ve been playing good all season long.  We did all the little things right.  We’ve just got to do the same thing tomorrow”.

Tomorrow the Brawley Junior League All Stars are scheduled to play against Rancho Jamul.
