Brawley Little League 9-10 All Stars squeezed out win in tight, high scoring game





SUNBEAM LAKE РScoreboard operators were busy at Sunbeam on Friday as Brawley Little League 9-10 All Stars and San Diego’s Las Palmas combined for 19 runs in the Section 7 play-offs. Brawley eventually won the offensive battle 10-9 in six innings.


There were 24 hits, including seven extra base hits in the game.


Las Palmas led for most the game until the fourth when both teams went back and forth, with many lead changes.


Brawley Little League 9-10 All Stars took the lead in the fifth inning and held on for the victory. A groundout by Aidin Torres scored Jacob Zendejas and gave Brawley Little League 9-10 All Stars the lead for good.


Fernando Noriega racked up three RBIs on two hits for Brawley Little League 9-10 All Stars. He doubled in the second and fourth innings.


The top of the second saw Las Palmas increase their early lead, 3-0. Richard Rivera started the rally for National City with a single. David Silva Jr. singled, scoring Jack Kicvchy.


Brawley answered Las Palmas top inning with five runs of its own in the third. Brawley scored on a wild pitch, a two-run double, an RBI single by Sebastian Morales, and an RBI triple by Pablo Torres.


In the fourth, Brawley scored on an RBI double, plating Eli Salgado. Brawley got two-run rallies in the fifth inning.


Brawley All Stars 9-10 will play next, Saturday, July 12, at 8:00 p.m. at Sunbeam Lake against the winner of District 41 and 42.
