BRAWLEY – The top teachers of Imperial Valley’s North End were honored Thursday evening at the fourth annual Brawley Chamber of Commerce Teacher’s Welcome Back Dinner at the Stockmen’s Club. The theme of the night was honoring those who educate the children for the future.

The chamber sponsors this event to honor all teachers of the North End, including Brawley, Calipatria, and Westmorland. The first 100 teachers who walked through the door were given a free dinner ticket and raffle prizes throughout the night added an air of celebration and camaraderie. The grand finale was the announcement of the Teacher of the Year.

Usually, only one is chosen for the whole North End, however, the chamber honored not one, but three, teachers, one from each school district in Brawley. Teachers recognized were Francis Nunez from Brawley Elementary School District, Jessica Aceves from Brawley Union High School District, and Margaretta Garcia from Sacred Heart School.

“I couldn’t do it without the support of my kinder team,” said Nunez. “Teachers, all of us, we work very hard.”

“It’s challenging, but at the same time I love it,” said Aceves.

Also, as a special surprise, Valley Medical Pharmacy donated checks for $101 to every teacher in attendance.
