EL CENTRO – The Board of Supervisors presented a Proclamation of Appreciation to the Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians for their generous Diamond Sponsorship and continual support of the Area Agency on Aging (AAA) Senior Appreciation Event.

The 2013-14 Ninth Annual Senior Appreciation Event was held back in January and besides being a sponsor, the Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians continue to support the AAA’s Food Distribution Program that provides meals to senior citizens throughout the valley.

Dee Dee Castro, Community & Public Relations Manager for Viejas, presented a check for $3000.00 to Public Administrator Norma Saikhon. Said Castro, “We have been supporting AAA since I have been on board, about 9 years.”

Saikhon said the money will be used to purchase and distribute boxes of food for low-income seniors in the outlying areas of Imperial County.
