EL CENTRO – The employees of First Solar and its sub-contractors donated $8,417.00 to the Betty Jo McNeece Receiving Home.
An additional donation of $1,000 is expected from First Solar, making a total of $9,417 to the home.
Betty Jo McNeece provides temporary shelter to children who have been removed from their homes based on allegations of neglect, abuse or abandonment.
Ashley Hudgens, a representative from First Solar, recently toured the Betty Jo McNeece Receiving Home and met with the administrator to discuss ideas on how to use the donated funds.
One suggestion was to use some of the funds to build a shade or patio to help protect the bicycles from the weather.
The renewable energy representatives will be returning in the coming weeks to further discuss use of the funds intended to maintain or improve the facility on behalf of the children in the receiving home.
The Imperial County Board of Supervisors accepted the donation Tuesday at their regular meeting.
