BRAWLEY — On Sunday, November 06, at approximately 9:00 a.m,. the Brawley Police Department received a 911 emergency call in reference to domestic disturbance and threat of violence at a residence on the 500 block of North Imperial Avenue. Upon arrival, the officers contacted a person experiencing an emotional crisis. It was reported and later confirmed that several firearms were present in the residence. The person’s family members exited the residence, but the suicidal person remained barricaded inside the residence. In response to the potential threat to surrounding residents, an evaluation was initiated at nearby homes.
The Crisis Negotiation Team of the Imperial County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Response Team responded to the scene to assist. After nearly three hours, the person was taken into custody without further incident. A loaded firearm was located inside the residence. The person was transported to the Imperial County Behavior Crisis Unit for further evaluation.
