IN-KO-PAH PARK – Vin Tran, 19 of El Centro, was driving a silver 2011 Honda Civic east on I-8 when he failed to negotiate a slight curve to the right and allowed his vehicle to run off the road into the dirt median.

Tran then over-corrected his steering by turning the wheel to the right and entered the eastbound #2 lane.

Tran again over-corrected his steering, this time by turning the steering wheel to the left. His vehicle entered the dirt median and overturned across the median and across the westbound lanes.

His vehicle came to rest on its roof, north of the westbound lanes.

Tran was wearing his seat belt and was extracted from the Civic.

Tran was flown from the scene via REACH Air Ambulance to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs, CA.

Tram suffered major head trauma as a result of this accident.
