Lowrie, Jr. on Friday, September 25 at Sacred Heart Church at 10:00 a.m. Mass will be held on Friday, September 25, at the Sacred Heart Church at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be Thursday, September 24, at Frye Chapel and Mortuary from 6-9 p.m. Burial will be Friday, September 25 at Riverview Cemetery after Mass.
A.V. Lowrie, Jr., 63, a lifetime resident of Brawley, California, passed away on September 17, 2015, after a brief illness. Mr. Lowrie was born on January 25, 1952, in the old hospital at the corner of Imperial and K Street in Brawley, to A. V. Lowrie, Sr. and Mary Scoggin. He was one of five children.
He attended Sacred Heart School, Ruth Reid School, Westmorland School and Brawley Union High School. He was a member of the Westmorland Boy Scouts and Future Farmers of America (FFA). He was a long time member of the Elks, Brawley Lodge #1420.
A.V. was a dedicated, industrious, and honest, businessman. He started work on the family farm and ranch raising Hereford cattle.
In 1980, he went into the bee business known as Lowrie Pollination and was affiliated with the California Bee Association. He often referred to the bees as his “babies”.
He enjoyed horseback riding, gardening, and preparing barbeque for friends and family. He was famous for his ribs. He worked incessantly at renovating his home in Brawley. As an adult, he learned Spanish and loved to travel to Mexico for the food, the beaches, and visiting family.
A.V. Lowrie, Jr., is survived by his dearly beloved wife, Martha Lorena Lowrie. They were married in El Perpetua Socorro Church in Mexicali on October 26, 2002. He was preceded in death by his father A. V. Lowrie, Sr.
Survivors also include his mother, Mary Scoggin, brothers, Larry, Richard, and Patrick Lowrie, sister, Martha Lowrie, son, A. V. Lowrie, III, step-son, Edgar Adrian Ortiz, and various cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws.
