Maria Elena Miranda
March 31, 1940 – March 11, 2017

Maria Elena Miranda was born on March 31, 1940 in Mexicali, BC. She married Jorge Miranda on December 24, 1963 in Mexicali, BC. Maria Elena left a legacy of a caring, loving Godly woman who enjoyed serving the Imperial Valley community.

To her friends and family she was a mother, a counselor, a teacher, a friend, and an advocate.

Mrs. Miranda was well known in the community for her many leadership roles such as in “Movimiento de Cursillo de Cristianola,” “Catholic Marriage Encounter,” and “Fiesta Educativa” in which for 15 years she coordinated a yearly conference to educate and advocate for parents with children of special needs.

Maria Elena Miranda touched many lives, and will forever be in the hearts of many people.

Mass will be performed for her on Monday, March 20, at St. Margaret Mary Church at 8:00 a.m. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery after the Mass. Visitation will be Sunday, March 19 at Frye Chapel and Mortuary from 6-9:00 p.m. with Rosary at 7:00 p.m.

Maria Elena is survived by her husband, Jorge Miranda of Brawley, her children, George Miranda of El Centro, Clara Miranda of Brawley, Fidel Miranda of Brawley, Cynthia Miranda of Brawley, and Norma Ruiz of Brawley, plus her grandchildren, Briana, Alyssa, Douglas, Victoria, Annacee, Mattie, and Madeline. She is also survived by her siblings, Natividad Saucedo of El Centro, Biula De Leon of Calexico, and Humberto Douglas of Mexicali.
