Obituary: Bert “Joe” Spieler


Bert “Joe” Spieler
August 19, 1939 – March 4, 2017


Bert “Joe” Spieler was born in Charleston, AR., on August 19, 1939. He graduated from Brawley Union High School in 1957, and joined the Air Force soon after graduation.

After getting out of the Air Force, he married the love of his life, Pat, on June 8, 1963 in Chino, CA.,and they soon moved to Brawley where they had three children.

He worked with his dad at Wright and Knight Service Center for several years and took over the business in 1976.  He retired in 2006.

He enjoyed family vacations to Lake Powell, testing his luck at Laughlin and spending time with his grandchildren.  He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.

Mass will be held on Thursday, March 16, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. with Father Ed Horning officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 15 at Frye Chapel and Mortuary from 6 – 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery after Mass.

Joe is preceded in death by his father, John M. Spieler his mother, Alberta M. Spieler, and his sister, Betty Joiner.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Spieler, his sons, Kevin (Jana) Spieler and Scott (Melissa) Spieler, and his daughter, Katherine Spieler (Bryan Roberts) and by his grandchildren, Justin, Chandler, Hayden, Jeffrey, Sahara, James, and Evan.
