Cecilia C. Jauregui
June 8, 1927 – October 17, 2016
Cecilia C. Jauregui, a longtime resident of Brawley went home to heaven to join her husband, Wenceslao. She was born to Juan and Maria Castaneda. She married her favorite “charro” Wenceslao (Benny) Jauregui and together raised 10 children.
She was affectionately called by her grandkids as “Nana Spanky”. With 19 grandkids, 18 great grandkids and 2 great-great grandkids it would sometimes set off a competition on who could earn the title, “Nana’s Favorite”, but in the end they were all her “favorite”.
With only an eighth grade education she was one of the smartest moms because she always had an answer for any question you asked her. Even with 10 kids she always made a point of attending all her kids’ school functions, whether it was a PTA meeting, an assembly, or a parent/teacher conference.
Being a supporter of her sons playing Wildcat football she bled the BLUE and GOLD. She’d always be asking where the next game would be at and who was going to take her to it. At one of the Wildcat football games she was even recognized as the “Oldest Wildcat Fan”.
