The California Highway Patrol reported a 35-year-old male from Brawley made an unsafe turn while driving his 2002 Dodge pickup on Forrester Road Monday morning around 4:00 a.m. The turn caused him to drive across the northbound lane of Forrester Road and strike the bridge abutment and guardrail on the east side of the canal, according to reports.
The impact caused the Dodge to overturn onto its right side partially ejecting the driver. The vehicle then slid on its right side in a southwesterly direction across both lanes on Forrester until a concrete K-rail on the west edge of the Westside Main Canal bridge stopped the vehicle. The driver of the Dodge succumbed to his injuries at the scene, according to logs. The CHP is still investigating the accident.
